Taverns working to organize Twin Lakes street party

Last year saw a fall street dance in downtown Twin Lakes to celebrate the opening of Main Street after a summer of construction.

The street is done, but two local businesses are looking to bring back the party again this year.

J Croz and  Main Street Tap are coordinating the event, targeted for Saturday Aug. 27. The event is expected to include food and drink sales and also live music.

The organizers have asked for Main Street to be closed from North Lake Avenue to Burden Avenue for the event. The Village Board discussed the proposal at a Committee of the Whole meeting Monday. The proposal seemed to be favored by most board members.

The village was more involved in the event last year since it did mark the re-opening of the street.  However, village President Howard Skinner emphasized that the village will have no organizing role this year.

“The village isn’t going to fork (over) any money for this,” Skinner said.

A more detailed plan is expected to come forward since the board’s reception was positive in general.
