Central High School will be hosting the Music on the Border Drum Corps International event on Wednesday, July 13 starting at 7 p.m.

Explained Central band director Adam Scheele:

I have always been a fan of the Drum and Bugle Corps. When I was in high school I would watch the groups compete in Monroe and Madison, WI and Dubuque, IA. I couldn’t afford to be part of a Corps because it is pretty expensive. Anyway, I thought that since Central has a nice athletic facility, it should be used for more than sports. I contacted DCI and informed them that I was interested in hosting a show. About 3 weeks later the Phantom Regiment who are based out of Rockford, IL contacted me and asked if I was still interested. I said yes and they sent their manager out here. We talked and discussed the options. I took it up with administration and presented it to the school board. All were very excited about hosting and were very cooperative and getting the facility ready to be used. I called the Phantom Regiment back and said it was a go. They contacted 7 Drum Corps to come here and compete and we are taking care of the rest such as raising donations, selling ads and sponsorships for the program.”

All profit from the event will to the CHS Music Department and Phantom Regiment.

Each corps is being housed by an area school: Bristol School, Central, Racine Case High School, Wheatland Center School, Paris School and Shoreland Lutheran School .

Tickets are $16 advance and $18 at the door.
