Jane Fahey’s fourth grade class at Salem School raised a US flag that has special meaning in a ceremony Thursday morning at the school.
Fahey’s daughter, Meghan, recently returned from Iraq, where she was serving as a military dentist. The flag was flown at Balad Air Force Base in honor of her mother’s fourth grade class. Meghan had been corresponding with the students this year about her time in Iraq. She is now back in the US and is stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri.
The flag waved from the school’s flag pole for the two remaining days of school.
After raising the flag, the students recited the Pledge of Allegiance.
