Wilmot HS advanced web design students compete to create real world website

Students in Travis Wetzel’s Advanced Website Design class created websites for a catering business, Four Seasons Catering.

Briana Yonushatis (senior) and Zack Stryjewski (junior) created the winning website, which you can see at www.4scatering.com.

Adam Fitzgerald’s (sophomore) website was also in the final round of the class contest.

The website began as a project in their Advanced Website Design course led by Wetzel.

In the beginning of this real‐world experience, all of the students in the class met with Todd Scott, their client. The students each designed their own versions of what could be the next website for Scott and Four Seasons Catering. Scott met again with all of the students to check the progress of each design and narrowed the competition to three finalists.

Scott had a difficult decision to make as many of the designs had qualities he liked, he said.

The final website includes elements from both Yonushatis and Stryjewski.

Scott said he enjoyed working with Wetezel and his students at Wilmot. The next time the website needs a new look, he hopes to work with the website design students again to give them this valuable experience. Todd Scott is starting this business to cater for all types of events. Scott currently owns and operates Papa Saverios Pizzeria & Catering in Richmond, Illinois.

Wetzel said he plans to continue this class project as an opportunity to give students real web design experience and build relationships with community businesses.
