Jonathan Steitz has added his name to the people who will run against state Sen. Robert Wirch in a recall election.
Steitz, a local attorney , made the official announcement of his candidacy Wednesday at a press conference in Pleasant Prairie.

Wirch, a Pleasant Prairie Democrat, drew a recall effort after he was among the 14 Democratic state senators who left the state to keep a vote from being held on Gov. Scott Walker’s budget repair bill, which among other things sought to limit the collective bargaining rights of public employees.
Signatures calling for the recall were submitted to the state, but a formal announcement has not been made yet as to whether the recall election will be held.
Steitz was introduced and endorsed at the press conference by Dan Hunt, who organized the Wirch recall effort.
