Central forensics receives Excellence in Speech Award

Propelled by eight gold medals at the Wisconsin High School Forensic Associations State Festival, Central High’s forensics team has received the Excellence in Speech Award due to their performance at the State Festival held in Madison. The forensics team is returning from Easter break to this good news. The award means that Central is once again in the top 5% of schools from around Wisconsin who participated in the State Festival.

“We had prepared all season to achieve this outcome,” said coach Bernadette Elverman. “The tournaments and festivals during the year honed our students to give their best performances in Madison. To say the least, we’re very proud of them.”

Gold medals are given for perfect scores of 25 points out of a possible 25. Gold medal winners are: Kate Gerou, Annaliesa Potter, Trevor Foster, Loreen Greenwell, Annie Di Persio, Rae Lynn Niles, and two play groups which include Stormy Mc Faul, Jessica Peterson, Meaghan Quigley, Alycia Griesi, Tyler Farrell, Zach Smart, Matt Karas, Eric Ottman, and Jeff Teumer.

The team score was bolstered by 10 silver medals, two bronze medals, and two minor bronze medals.

An awards night recognizing individual and team contributions over the season will be held Thursday, May 12, at Central.
