The Silver Lake Water Patrol and the state Department of Natural Resources will conduct a Boater’s Safety Course on May 7 and 8.

The course will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Silver Lake Village Hall, 113 S First St., Silver Lake.

The class will teach the basics of boating and boating laws and regulations so that participants can have a safe and fun boating season.

Wisconsin boating safety certification or out of state equivalent certification is required for operators born on or after Jan. 1, 1989 and at least 16 years of age. Operators 12 to 15 years of age must either have a certificate or have an adult on board while operating. Anyone 10 years of age or older is eligible to take the class and receive a safety education completion certificate. The certificate does not become valid until the child reaches 12 years of age.

Fee is $10 per student. You can sign-up at Silver Lake Village Hall or by calling 889-4100.
