Elkhorn man dies in crash in Bristol

An Elkhorn man died in a one-vehicle crash early Wednesday morning in Bristol.

Leon Hood, 47, was pronounced dead at the scene by a representative of the Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office, according to Sheriff’s Department . He appeared to be the only occupant of his car.

According to Sheriff’s Department reports: Hood’s car was traveling northbound on Highway 45 in Bristol when he lost control. The car skid about 900 feet and struck a tree on the east side of the road with the driver’s side of the vehicle. Marks on the road indicated that the car swerved into the southbound lane at one point during the skid. Two semi-truck drivers reported the crash scene, but did not see the accident happen. Hood was not wearing a seat belt and was removed from the vehicle by Bristol Fire and Rescue personnel.

The crash occurred in about the 11300 block of Highway 45.
