At 3:59 p.m., Salem Fire/Rescue and Silver Lake Rescue are responding to a report of a barn on fire in the 29200 block of Highway NN, Brighton.
UPDATE 4:03 p.m. — Deputy on scene reports that barn is about a half mile off of the road, but fire equipment should be able to access via driveway. Lots of black smoke, but no flames scene. Farm equipment and gasoline reportedly stored inside.
UPDATE 4:06 p.m. — Deputy reports fuel tanks also outside barn about 30 feet away that appear to be OK for now.
UPDATE 4:07 p.m. — Dispatch reports that structure is a metal pole barn.
UPDATE 4:10 p.m. — Box alarm activated. Additional departments responding are Silver Lake, Wheatland, Bristol, Randall and Paris.
UPDATE 4:18 p.m. — Deputy blocking eastbound traffic on Highway NN at 294th Avenue.
UPDATE 4:33 p.m. — Some units being released.
UPDATE 5:31 p.m. — All Salem Fire/Rescue units are clearing the scene.
