After acting on a binding motion regarding spending money for park land, the electors at the Salem Annual Meeting considered several advisory motions from the floor:
- A motion to not renew the town administrator’s contract failed 58 to 8.
- A motion to change speed boating hours on Camp Lake to end at sunset instead of ending at 7 p.m. was approved by a wide margin.
- A motion to make the town building inspector a contracted position failed 66 to 6.
- Motions to change the shoreline zone on Lake Shangri-la to 100 feet from shore and to lengthen speed boating hours to sunset in July and August were approved by wide margins.
The Town Board is not bound to enact any of the above advisory motions.
