Twenty-four of the 25 entrants from Central High School’s forensics team advanced from the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association’s sub district contest held at Burlington High School to the district contest, which will be held at Oak Creek on March 19.
The WHSFA’s sub district is the first step in the road to the finale, which is the State Festival in Madison in April. A total of 35 students from Central participated in the sub district, the first level of qualification or elimination for advancement. A full team or near full team puts Central in line to win another Excellence in Speech Award given to the top 5 percent of schools in Wisconsin who bring contestants to the State contest. Central has won this award eight of the last nine years .
Central’s next goal is to do well in the Southern Lakes Conference Forensics Tournament at Badger High School, Lake Geneva, on Thursday, March 10.
