The Wilmot cheerleaders attended the National High School Cheerleading Competition in Orlando, Feb. 10 to Feb. 14.
Wilmot competed at the Milwaukee Regional Competition in December. Their first place finish earned them their first ever bid to this prestigious national competition.
Wilmot attended along with over 400 teams. The team’s goal was to make it past the Preliminary round and to be able to compete in the Semi-Final round. Waiting after Prelims as the announcer listed the 15 other teams that would be moving on, the girls celebrated as they finally heard “Wilmot†come over the speaker system.
Wilmot did not advance to the finals, but they ended up placing in the top 18 teams in the nation in their division. In their free time, they were able to visit some of the Disney parks and enjoy the Orlando weather.
The NHSCC Competition was founded in 1980 by the Universal Cheerleader Association as the first high level cheerleading competition.
