Twin Lakes to consider future in Community Library at special meeting

The Twin Lakes Village Board will hold a special meeting Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 6 p.m., at Village Hall to discuss and possibly act on its continued membership in the Community Library joint library system.

Twin Lakes officials have most recently been seeking changes to the governing agreement between the five municipalities that would have surplus funds designated to be spent in the library sites that service the communities where the tax dollars came from.

There appeared to be little support for making the change when representatives of all five member municipalities — Twin Lakes, Salem, Paddock Lake, Randall and Silver Lake met in Paddock Lake last month.

At that time, Twin Lakes village President Howard Skinner said the next step for his municipality would be to decide if Village Board members want to stay in the Community Library even without their sought changes or to leave and form their own library. Wednesday’s meeting appears to be when they will have that discussion.
