Despite a good turnout of concerned residents, the Randall Town Board deferred extensive discussion of the effects of the Nippersink Bowl drainage project on Lake Benedict.
Chairman Bob Stoll called for the deferral because he has previously asked that questions and concerns of the group of Lake Benedict residents be presented in advance. The group submitted two sets of questions today, Stoll said.
The concerns of the group revolve around the quality of storm water discharge that would be pumped into the lake from the bowl, where flooding is a problem. Representatives of the residents are concerned that the pumping could cause unhealthy conditions in the lake such as algae blooms and blue-green algae.
A new date for the discussion was not set, but will take place when the town is ready to address the concerns raised.
