Silver Lake 12th Night coverage

Silver Lake celebrated 12th Night Thursday with the burning of a large pile of natural Christmas trees and wreaths.

The burning took place just outside of the Silver Lake Fire Department downtown. The bonfire was attended by about a dozen fully outfitted firefighters.

Though the temperature was quite chilly, it was plenty warm outside near the fire.

Cookies and hot chocolate were also served inside the fire station.

Trustee Ann Augustin, who organizes the festivity, said the village has been celebrating 12th Night since 1996.
