Hartnell Chevrolet was able to donate $2,500 and literally a pick up truck bed full of food and other needed supplies to The Sharing Center after a month long effort at the Salem car dealer.
Craig Schilz, new car sales manager, said the money was raised by the dealership donating $50 per each vehicle sold at Hartnell from Nov. 19 through Dec. 25.
“We always try to help The Sharing Center,” said Schilz. “They’re our number one charity.”
The food and supplies donations mostly came from Hartnell customers pitching in, Schilz said.
Lynn Biese-Carroll, the center’s executive director, said the donation was welcome, and one that was not solicited by the center.
“It’s very nice when the businesses come forward,” Biese said.
Biese accepted the check and supplies from Schilz and Randy Richter, used car manager in a ceremony at the dealership, 7800 Antioch Road, Salem.
Nice job Hartnell, just one more reason we all need to buy local.
