Silver Lake will host its 14th annual Christmas decorations contest this year.
All homeowners in the village are eligible to participate (except winners the last three years) and any style of decorations is welcomed. No pre-registration is necessary. Every street will be covered by the judges.
On Thursday, Dec. 16, three judges will tour the village to determine the best of the best. Judging begins at 7 p.m., so be sure to have your display ready by then. The judges will not be residents of Silver Lake, nor will they have access to homeowners’ names. Judging is done strictly by presentation and street address.
“When we first began this contest in 1996, we had no idea that it would grow into such a large competition,” said Trustee Ann Augustin, who organizes the event. “Close to every home in Silver Lake now participates.”
Prizes this year area:
- $50 gift card donated by Peoples Bank for first prize.
- $40 gift certificate to Taste of Italy for second prize.
- $30 gift certificate to Silver Lake Grill for third prize.
Augustin will contact each winner by phone to make arrangements for delivery of their respective prizes.
