At 12:26 p.m., sheriff’s deputies and Salem and Silver Lake rescue units are responding to a report of a hunter with a gunshot injury at Richard Bong State Recreation Area, Brighton.
The hunter is in the vicinity of Vern Wolf Lake, dispatch reported.
UPDATE 12:29 p.m. — Salem Fire/Rescue ATV at the Wilmot station being dispatched to scene. Extent of injuries not known at this time, dispatch reports.
UPDATE 12:33 p.m. — Park staff has arrived on scene. Flight for Life medical transport helicopter being put on stand-by.
UPDATE 12:34 p.m. — Salem rescue units at park.
UPDATE 12:39 p.m. — Rescue personnel at scene reports that injuries are minor. Wilmot station ATV and Flight for Life being cancelled.
UPDATE 12:41 p.m. — Deputy reports to dispatch that incident occurred among members of a single hunting party and was accidental.
