Twin Lakes passes tax levy with .4 percent increase

The Twin Lakes Village Board passed a tax levy Monday night for 2011 with a .4 percent tax increase.

But even that slight increase should feel like a 0 percent increase to most village property taxpayers, said village administrator David Cox. That’s because the the increase is due to new development in the community and should only be felt by those properties.

However, while the village may be levying for the same total amount, what will happen to an individual property’s village tax bill depends on a number of other factors as well, including any change to its assessed value.

The budget and levy passed the board unanimously.

This year’s total tax levy will be $3,268,723.
