At 5:50 p.m., Salem Fire/rescue is responding to a report of smoke in a house in the 22000 block of Burlington Road (Highway 142), Brighton.
Dispatch reports that residents were using a fireplace. Someone at the home tried to look in the attic, but did not see source of smoke. Occupants were instructed to get out of the house.
UPDATE 5:53 p.m. — Dspatch reports that resident has called back and believes smoke is coming from the fireplace. Salem units are continuing to respond.
UPDATE 6 p.m. — Fire personnel on scene reports that no fire is showing. Kansasville Fire Department also responding.
UPDATE 6:15 p.m. — No fire; fire units returning to stations.
