Battle of the Books time has begun at Salem School.
Students in the fourth, fifth and sixth grades make up the team. The readers will meet every other Tuesday in the Intermediate Library at 3:30 p.m. for one hour.
There is still time for students to join the team. The next meeting is Nov. 2. Eventually they will compete against other school teams in a contest of reading comprehension.
The current list of books to read for the competition is now available at the intermediate library and will also be available soon at the Salem Community Library. A list of the books can be obtained by contacting club leader Tom Reilly at treilly1@wi.rr.com.
This year’s theme for the team is “Readers Are Leaders.â€
“It is so important to encourage kids to read and to get a life long habit of reading everyday,” Reilly said.
Parents are encouraged to help support their children in participating in Battle Of The Books. If they would like to help out, they should contact Reilly by email or by phone at 843-3823.

- Oct. 19
