The Falcons traveled to Horlick Monday night and stayed perfect, 7-0, in SEC play with a three-game sweep. The Falcons won 25-19, 25-22, and 25-12 behind strong serving from Sophomore Caleb Mobile, Junior Mike Michelau and Senior Nick Manning. The trio took turns in different sets going on extended serving runs against the Rebels, who struggled with receiving all night. Coach Wayne Schultz got all the varsity players off the bench and into the games and experimented with a few different lineups heading into their final conference tilt.
Said Coach Schultz:
We played a very effective match tonight. Both our outside hitters ( NickManning and Mike Michelau) were very good. It is always good to win our conference matches. We are now 7-0 in the SEC and have assured ourselves of at least a tie for the conference championship. We did have some nice serving runs. Nick lead the way with 5 aces. Caleb Mobile and Mike each has 3 aces. Michelau had 13 kills, Manning 6 and Mobile 4. Dayton Erickson had 26 assists and Brooks Gahart had 8. Nick , Dayton and Andrew Thoss all had 7 digs to lead the defense.”
