Central HS to host candidate forum focused on education

The Central High School Board is hosting a candidate’s forum Thursday, Sept. 30, starting at 7 p.m. at the school.

The forum will focus on education issues. Candidates for state offices that include Central High School in their districts have been invited, including Republican state Rep. Samantha Kerkman and her Democratic opponent Steve Brown of the 66th Assembly District.

The forum will take place in the school’s Multi-Purpose Room.

    Thanks for posting this notice. I do hope that members of our community comes out tonight to hear what Representative Kerkman and I have to say about education.

    As everyone knows by now, this is not a candidate debate, rather, it will be a “conversation” about educational issues. (There WILL be a full-fledged regular-type debate between Samantha and myself on October 19th in Somers at Shoreland Lutheran HS at 7pm.)

    As a public educator (teacher for the past 30 years, I know that there are lots of serious issues we are facing here in Wisconsin relative to education, like school funding, accountability, and student testing and achievement. When you combine that with the $2.5 Billion dollar deficit our State has (out of a $65B overall State budget), we have some serious issues that need to be addressed.
