Dollar General no longer pursuing Paddock Lake location

The developer looking to build a store in Paddock Lake for national retailer Dollar General has withdrawn its proposal.

Village building inspector Tim Popanda said the reason for the withdrawal was the company had greatly underestimated the cost of reworking the median on Highway 50 in front of the site. The actual cost made pursuing the project economically  not feasible.

“It’s a shame,” said village President Marlene Goodson.

The same developer is still pursuing a location in Twin Lakes on North Lake Avenue.

The Paddock Lake location was to be on the south side of Highway 50 about 800 feet west of Highway F.
