Crash at Highways 45 and 50 results in OWI arrest

A crash at the intersection of Highways 45 and 5o Monday evening resulted in one person being flown to a Milwaukee hospital after being trapped in his vehicle for half an hour. The driver of the other vehicle was subsequently arrested for operating while intoxicated.

According to Sheriff’s Department reports, at 7:55 p.m. deputies responded to the intersection of Highways 50 and 45 for a report of a serious injury crash involving two vehicles.A green Chevy SUV had been traveling westbound on Highway 50 and turned left onto Highway 45 southbound in the path of an eastbound green Camry.

The operator and single occupant of the Camry, Anthony Macellari, 75, of Pleasant Prairie, had to be removed from the vehicle by Bristol Fire and Rescue personnel. It took over 30 minutes to remove him from the vehicle. He was flown to Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital by Flight for Life medical helicopter.

A sheriff’s deputy later contacted Froedtert and was advised Macellari had sustained a fractured elbow and that his injuries did not appear life threatening at the time, reports said.

The SUV had two occupants who reported no injuries. Neither subject had hard I.D on their person, reports said.

Guadalupe Escamilla-Ayalla, 32, of Round Lake told deputies she was driving the SUV, reports said. Ayalla was transported to Aurora Hospital and she was arrested for OWI causing injury following field sobriety tests. She also faces other charges. She was held on the felony charge.
