The raze, no raze fate of two wooden structures on the Heath property on Highway AH in Salem are apparently headed for a definitive raze.
A couple of months ago, the board granted a representative of the family that owns the property until Nov. 15 to make sufficient improvements to the house to bring it out of a blight condition. The town had earlier than that issued a raze order for a home and wood barn on the property. That extension was one of several such given the property’s owners over the last year.
But town administrator Patrick Casey reported to the Town Board Monday night that a demolition permit has been obtained by the owner for the property.
The permit would be good for six months. But the board decided to enforce the November deadline and act on razing the buildings if they are not rehabbed or torn down by the owners first.
“He may change his mind again,” said Supervisor Dennis Faber.
