The Twin Lakes Village Board approved a developer’s agreement with a company building a store for national retailer Dollar General at a special board meeting Tuesday night.

Last month, village President Howard Skinner expressed concerns about the appearance of the proposed store and frustration with developer DGI-Twin Lakes LLC apparent reluctance to agree to visual improvements.

However, the agreement now includes a passage requiring additional landscaping “to enhance the appearance of the development as a gateway to the village.” It passed unanimously Tuesday.

The store would be developed and built by the developer, which would then lease the store to Dollar General, which would operate the business.

The store is proposed for a vacant site on North Lake Avenue just north of where a US Bank is now located.

The same developer is seeking to build a Dollar General store in Paddock Lake on Highway 50.

Dollar General is the country’s largest retailer in terms of locations with over 8,800 stores, said Todd Platt, representative of the Twin Lakes project’s developer. He likened the stores offerings to a Wal-Mart, but on a smaller scale.

Hi I was wondering if you know when the building will be done and if there is anyway there is a way to apply for them?
