Salem Fire/Rescue responding to two weather related calls

At 9:03 p.m., Salem Fire/rescue is responding to two weather related fire calls.

Dispatch reports that a transformer is arcing and on fire at 71st and 248th Avenue.

Dispatch also reports that wires are on fire at the northwest corner of Highway 50 and Highways 75/83.

UPDATE 9:08 p.m. — Deputy on scene at 248th Avenue and 71st Street says no transformer on fire, but there is a down fire that may have been arcing. Fire department now on scene too and says no arcing at this time. We energies requested to respond.

UPDATE 9:12 p.m. — Dispatch reports that sewer lift station at 73rd Street and 248th Avenue may have taken direct lightning hit. A deputy is investigating.

UPDATE 9:13 p.m. — Personnel at Highways 50 and 83/75 not seeing arcing. They are being released from scene by command.

UPDATE 9:21 p.m. — Personnel at scene report to dispatch that lift station seems to be functioning normally.

UPDATE 9:29 p.m. — Outside my window anyway, wind has calmed considerably and rain has stopped too.

    I made one of the calls for the 248th Ave arcing. The arcs were moving down the wires. It was really cool looking, yet scary.

    I was driving up 50 coming towards Paddock Lake, and saw Orange Arcing going on over the tree line, It looked like there were explosions or a fire.
