Town of Wheatland Fire Department officials have arranged automatic mutual response from two other departments for the northwest corner of the town in anticipation of the possibility of traffic snafus due to the intersection work at Highways 50 and P.
The construction has not been a problem yet, fire Chief Allan Kaddatz told the Town Board Monday, but he anticipates efficient travel in the area could become difficult for fire apparatus when construction becomes more intense.
“They haven’t really done anything yet,” Kaddatz said. “We’re concerned about that northeast corner of town.”
To help ensure adequate emergency response, Kaddatz said Wheatland FD has arranged for auto response in the northwest portion of the town from the Town of Burlington and Lyons fire departments when the situation warrants it.
