Services are Thursday for firefighter killed in crash

Eric Norden

Services for Firefigher/EMT-Paramedic Eric Norden will be Thursday, Aug. 26, at Holy Cross Church-West (former Holy Name Catholic Church)

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon, with fire department personnel walk through at noon and service at 1 p.m., said Salem Fire/Rescue Chief David “Mike” Slover.

The church is located at the northwest corner of Highway B and Highway C next to the Wilmot Fire Station.

“I would also like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all who have called or come by extending their condolences and offers of assistance,” said Slover. “You all have been wonderful.”

Norden died in a crash early Saturday morning, just south of the state line.

He was remembered in two moving , impromptu ceremonies at the Kenosha County Fair — one before Saturday’s race program, the other before the pie auction.

Norden, 30, was a full-time firefighter/EMT-paramedic with Salem Fire/Rescue and also served with the Paris Fire Department, the Antioch Fire Department and the Silver Lake Rescue Squad.
