New 4-H Dairy Award goes to Emma Calzavara

The above video shows the presentation of a new dairy award to Emma Calzavara by instructor Jacob Street.

This year’s Kenosha County Fair featured a new award sponsored by Jacob Street.

For the past four years, Street said he has been working with youngsters in the Dairy Project here on finishing and clipping their dairy cattle.

The inaugural winner of the award was Emma Calzavara of Brighton, who showed a brown Swiss cow named Marcy at the fair.

Over the last two years, Emma has shown the most interest, attention and improvement in the skills he teaches, Street said.

“She’s the one who really pays attention when she came to the clipper classes,” Street said after the ceremony.

Emma was humble when asked about the achievement.

“It’s just my second year (showing dairy cattle) so I don’t know a lot, but I tried to do my best,” she said.

Street said he plans to make the award an annual feature of the Dairy Show.
