The Paris Fire Department will be getting a credit card.
The Town Board approved the move at Tuesday’s Town Board meeting.
In the past, emergency expenses were often covered by Chief Roland Iwen using his credit card. Iwen was then reimbursed for the payment by the town.
The town’s auditors, however, have said that is not the best practice and instead suggested a dedicated credit card for Fire Department use.
The board set a $1,000 per month transaction limit on the card and discussed making it available to be used only by the fire chief, the assistant chief and the Town Board liaison to the Fire Department.
Iwen said an example of how the card might be used would be if the department made a mutual aid response out of the immediate area and needed fuel before returning home.
