The Silver Lake Village Board is considering an increase in sewer fees.
The ordinance establishing the fees had a first reading at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting. Consequently, no vote was taken.
Current fees for a residential home are $126 per quarter. The proposed new fee would be $140 per quarter for a residential home.
Multi-family buildings are charged the same fee per residential unit. Commercial users are charged based on a different formula.
If passed at the next board meeting, the fees would go into effect for the third quarter of 2010.
The fees have not been increased in four years, village officials said. The increase is needed to keep up with increasing operating expenses.
