JAZZ WAVE will be the band at the next Silver Lake Concert in the Park this Sunday, July 25 at 5 p.m. in Schmalfeldt Park.

The band first appeared in the Silver Lake concert series in 1997, Concerts in the Park’s first year. Last year, the second half of their performance was rained out, explained village Trustee Ann Augustin, who organizes the series. So this year, many of the favorites they were scheduled to play then will open this concert.

JAZZ WAVE features many of the oldies of the Stan Kenton era, but also presents original jazz and current compositions.

“This 18-member band always draws a large crowd who enjoy hearing a top-class rendition of perpetual favorites,” Augustin said. “JAZZ WAVE also includes, in addition to the Big Band sound, swing, Latin, soul and blues music.”

It surely would not be a Concert in the Park if the Silver Lake Rescue Squad, coordinated by Chief Bob Johnson, didn’t serve their “world famous” brats and hot dogs. The Silver Lake Fire and Rescue Squad Auxiliary adds to the feast by offering soft drinks and water. All monies received go directly to the respective agencies.

Attendees are advised to bring a blanket or chair to sit on.
