The Wheatland Town Board will seek bids for paving project on three town roads it is pretty sure it wants to repave this year and another that is more of a maybe.

The for sure projects are:

  • 85th Street east of 402nd Avenue — placing 5 inches of asphalt on existing limestone base.
  • 347th Avenue south of Geneva Road — 2 inch asphalt overlay with shouldering.
  • 349th Avenue between 67th and 69th streets — 2 inch asphalt overlay with shouldering.

The town’s engineer estimated those projects to cost about $69,000.

If the town can find some extra money in its budget, however, it also might do some overlay paving of 317th Avenue and 71st Street to 315th Avenue in Oakwood Terrace.

The first three bids will be bundled together and bidders will be asked to provide a separate additional bid for the fourth project.

The town has about $90,000 in its roads fund, but has been talking about spending about $70,000 on roads paving. The remaining money in the fund is used for expenses such as weed cutting and filling potholes.

The board is expected to make a decision on the bids and moving forward with road projects at its July 26 meeting.
