County Dog Park in Randall to open Friday afternoon

The Warren Close Bark Park, located at 35610 89th St. (Highway F), Randall, will open Friday afternoon, according to County Executive Jim Kreuser.

Construction on the parking lot is being completed, but the dog park is ready for use, Kreuser said.

The Warren Close Bark Park is subdivided into two areas: One for large dogs and one for small dogs 14 inches and under, elderly and disabled dogs.

The opening of the Warren Close Bark Park creates three fully operational dog parks in Kenosha County.

The Dog Park at Old Settlers Park is located at 42100 75th Street in Paddock Lake and continues to be open with temporary fencing. Plans have been made to subdivide the park into two areas with permanent fencing for large and small dogs in the future, but for now, this dog park contains just one large fenced in area for all dogs to play in together.

The Carlisle Family Dog Park is located at Petrifying Springs Park, just off of Highway JR in Somers. It is also subdivided into two areas, separating small and large dog.

At all three Kenosha County Dog Park locations, donations are required for use. Donations can be dropped into a locked box outside the entrance to each dog park. Donations are used to help maintain and keep up the dog parks.

In August, the Kenosha County Clerk will be issuing permits that can be purchased by Kenosha County residents for $20/year and by non-residents for $25/year. For those with multiple dogs, an additional fee of $5 for each dog in the same household, up to three dogs per applicant, will be applied. Upon purchase, a dog tag will be issued that should be worn on the dog’s collar while in the dog parks. For those who do not wish to purchase a dog tag, a daily fee of $2 for Kenosha County residents and $5 for non-residents can be paid at each dog park.

Rules for use of the parks are posted outside of each dog park and on the Kenosha County Dog Parks website at: http://www.co.kenosha.wi.us/publicworks/parks/dogparks/index.html.
