Bristol annexation referendum this Tuesday

Town of Bristol residents will get a chance to decide Tuesday through a referendum whether they want to join the village of Bristol as a single incorporated government entity.

Voting for town of Bristol residents only will be at Holy Cross Church (formerly St. Scholastica), 18700 116th St. (Highway V). Hours will be 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The issue will be decided by a simple majority of votes. If most people vote yes, the town (blue on map below) will be annexed en masse into the village. If most people vote no, there will continue to be a town of Bristol and a village of Bristol.

The northwest portion of the town (pink on map below) incorporated as a village Dec. 1, 2009. Then starting in late December, the village began pursuing a referendum to see if town residents want to annex en masse into the village.
