The 14th season of Silver Lake’s Concerts in the Park will kick off this Sunday, June 27 at 5 p.m. at Schmalfeldt Park.
Invited back by many requests from previous concert-goers is the highly acclaimed Pat Crawford Big Band. This 18-member band, directed by Pat Crawford, is well-known in area music circles. They offer a variety of big band music, including selections from the Count Basie and Stan Keaton eras as well as the tried and true Frank Sinatra classics. And to further enhance the music Carole Crawford will be showcasing her vocal expertise.
It surely would not be a Concert in the Park if the Silver Lake Rescue Squad, coordinated by Chief Bob Johnson, didn’t serve their “world famous” brats and hot dogs for your pleasure. The Silver Lake Fire and Rescue Squad Auxiliary adds to the feast by offering soft drinks and water. All monies received go directly to the respective agencies.
Village Trustee Ann Augustin, chairman of the Parks Committee, was delighted that this band was again returning to Silver Lake.
“Each time that they have appeared here the audience just raved about their presentation,” Augustin said. “I am so glad that they agreed to return again this year and be such a big part of our summer series.”
Added Augustin: “I also want to remind people to bring a blanket or chair to sit upon.”
