Teen pedestrian dies after being struck by car on Highway N

At 9:13 p.m., Paris Fire and Rescue units are responding to the report of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 17100 block of Highway N. Someone on the scene is performing CPR.

UPDATE 9:21 p.m. — Traffic being closed on Highway N at Highway D to the west and 169th Avenue to the east. Rescue on scene and performing CPR.

UPDATE 9:27 p.m. — Flight for Life medical helicopter responding. Expected to be over the scene in under 10 minutes.

UPDATE 1:18 a.m. —  The person struck was a 14-year-old girl, who died at the scene. From a press release from the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department:
Initial reports indicate that the victim had been out for a walk on Highway N with a girlfriend, who lives nearby.  The girls were walking westbound on the roadway when a westbound Honda Accord struck the victim.  She was believed to have been walking on the paved and traveled portion of the roadway.  The Honda was occupied by a husband and wife enroute to their residence in Silver Lake.  The wife was driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.  According to deputies, the driver stated she crested a hill to see two girls walking in the roadway.   She said she attempted to avoid a collision, but struck one of the girls.  The other girl was not struck. Deputies indicated the driver showed no signs of impairment, but she submitted to a voluntary blood sample for investigative purposes.No citations have been issued, however this case remains under investigation.  The identity of the 14-year-old victim will not be released until close family members can be notified, and permitted some hours to cope with this tragic loss.

UPDATE 5:18 p.m., June 18 — Victim identified as Michelina (Micki) Combs, 15, of Bristol.
