Paddock Lake 50th anniversary celebration details emerge

The Village Board and staff were sporting their 50th anniversary t-shirts at Wednesday’s meeting. The shirts are on sale at Village Hall. Proceeds go toward paying for the 50th anniversary celebration July 4.

More details about Paddock Lake’s 50th anniversary celebration, to be held on July 4, emerged at Wednesday’s Village Board meeting.

Trustee Karen Harris gave a report on the plans, which included the following information:

  • The traditional bike parade will start at 10 a.m. from McAlonan Park and follow the typical route north on 248th Avenue, east on 61st Street and then south to 236th Avenue ending at Village Hall. Kids activities will follow at Village Hall, including free food, face painting, bounce houses, snow cones and other activities.
  • Starting at 12:30 p.m., a tent across from Village Hall will open. The tent is the headquarters for much of the rest of the celebration. The Westosha Kiwanis Club will be selling beer and food there and hosting bands throughout the day.
  • From 2 to 4 p.m., a magician will be roaming the grounds interacting with those in attendance.
  • From 3:30 to 5 p.m., there will be cake served in Village Hall along with a slide show of village memories.
  • From 6 to 8 p.m., there will be pony rides on the Village Hall property.
  • Village Hall will be closed after the cake reception, but portable toilet facilities and hand washing stations will be available.
  • Live music, beer and food under the Kiwanis tent will continue until midnight.
