Salem town staff will be investigating the feasibility of a proposal by Chairman Linda Valentine to have lake districts representatives post and remove no wake notices when authorized by the town’s Public Safety Department.
Valentine said getting some help with the posting of such notices could help out public safety.
But town administrator Patrick Casey said he would need to check on whether the town could delegate its authority to make those posting to another entity like the lake districts. He also expressed concerns about whether the town would want to make such a move.
“I would rather the town work on a better notification system,” Casey said.
Valentine instructed Casey to investigate the delegation of authority issue and report back to the board.
