Twin Lakes fall Festivus to return with more activities

Action from last year's softball tournament at Twin Lakes Fall Festivus.

Twin Lakes American Legion Post and the Genoa City Reddogs are planning to bring their Fall Festivus back this September.

After a successful first year, the groups are looking to add some features to the event this year, according to a letter from the event’s chairman Todd Erickson to the Twin Lakes Village Board.

Planned activities include:

  • A double-elimination softball tournament.
  • 5K run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, which is a different day. However, the course will be the same as last year.
  • Live music.
  • Food and beverages.
  • New home run derby on Friday.
  • Car show on Saturday.
  • Parade at 6 p.m. on Saturday from Lance Park to Legion Park with first responders leading and a tribute in honor of 9-11 at 7 p.m.
  • Sunday will be family day featuring a craft show, dog show, dog costume parade, soapbox derby and perhaps a magician and stilt walkers.

The groups will be seeking a three-day fermented beverages license from the village as well as help with traffic control during the 5K and parade.
