Randall School Board gets update on open enrollment numbers

As of Wednesday, Randall School has 45 of the 57 students who were approved for open enrollment into the district say they will attend Randall this fall.

The numbers could change some, however, district administrator Steve Bloom pointed out. Students’ families had until Friday to confirm their intent to attend Randall. Those that did say yes, could still change their mind and attend their resident district  at any time. However students that decline open enrollment by Friday will not be able to change their minds later.

Randall also had 19 students apply to open enroll to other schools, Bloom said, with 11 confirming by Wednesday that they intend to do so. Three others indicatd they will remain at Randall and the intent of five others was unknown earlier this week.

Most students that enroll out of the district indicate that it is because they live in the district, but a parent teaches in another school, Bloom said. Some also enroll into other districts because of specific curriculum offered elsewhere.

As an example, Bloom said “You can take French at some of the middle schools. We don’t have that here. They’re looking for a curriculum opportunity.”
