Violet Miller wins Remarkable Older American Award

Violet Miller of Trevor was one of this year’s Remarkable Older American Award winners this year.

Miller is well-known in the Trevor community, even being dubbed the unofficial mayor of Trevor. Before the advent of the 911 emergency system, Miller took calls in her home for the Trevor Fire Department. She also has devoted over 62 years to the Western Kenosha County Historical Society, formerly known as the Trevor Social Club.

The award was announced at the Older American Month Luncheon sponsored by the Older American’s Month Committee and the Kenosha County Aging and Disability Center.

Miller was nominated for her award by Susan Wittnebel, Linda Valentine and Delores Prestay.

William Schumacher of Kenosha also received the award this year.
