Storm knocks power out in Paddock Lake

Power went out at westofthei.com headquarters in Paddock Lake at about 2:55 p.m. Not sure how widespread outage is yet.

UPDATE 3:03 p.m. — Shawn Kreuger reports pea-sized hail in Paddock Lake.

UPDATE 3:07 p.m. — The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Western Kenosha County. Statement says there are two storms over the area, which are nearly stationary. Small hail in some areas. Winds as high as 40 mph. Places effected include: Paddock Lake, Salem, Bristol, Camp Lake, Silver Lake.

UPDATE 3:12 p.m. — Dispatch reports that railroad crossing gates on Highway C in Trevor down, but no train in area. Reports of down trees and power lines beginning to come in.

UPDATE 3:15 p.m. — Deputy reports wires down at intersection of 240th Avenue and 45th Street.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m. — Line down at 240th Avenue and 45th Street is a phone line, deputy reports. Still rainingm, though lighter, and wind has calmed.

UPDATE 4:04 p.m. — A We Energies spokesman says the power outage effects about 50 customers in the Paddock Lake area. No estimated time of restoration yet.

UPDATE 4:24 p.m. — Power restored to Paddock Lake except for one customer, We spokesman Irissol Arce reports. As many as 150 customers were effected. Outage was due to a lightning strike, she said.

UPDATE 4:36 p.m. — An automated call I just received from We Energies said over 500 customers were effected by the outage, but did not specify where.
