The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department is asking for members of the community to donate their gently used bicycles for a special cause. In its ongoing partnership with the Frank Neighborhood Project, the sheriff’s department is making a special effort to help some area kids in need.

“We are asking for your gently used bicycles so we can get them to some area youths who could really use them,” said Sgt. Gil Benn, the department’s public information officers. ” If you have a bicycle that you no longer need and its ‘ready to ride,’ please consider donating it to our effort. Youth bikes are preferable, but we’ll take any bike that is functional and ready to ride.”

Bicycles will be accepted between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. at: The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office, Public Safety Building, 1000 55th St, Kenosha. Please call ahead: 262-605-5100.

The bikes will be given away at an FNP event in June. The date and time will be announced.

“If you have a bike in your garage or shed that’s only taking up space, consider using it to put a smile on a kid’s face that may not have so much,” Benn said.
