Ribbon cut for Salem Community Park

Salem Park Commission Chairman Jo Weidman gives one of the slides at the Salem Community Park a try on Saturday. The park had its official ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

The new Salem Community Park saw its official coming out Saturday with a ribbon cutting ceremony overseen by town officials.

The park, under development for much of last year, includes structured areas such as a playground, softball fields and pavilion with rest rooms but also a natural area.

The park is located on 256th avenue south of Highway AH.

Refreshments were served after the ceremony, which was open to the public.

The park has already been seeing steady use in the playground areas, said Park Commission Chairman Jo Weidman. The park also has been reserved for a wedding this summer.

Here is some video of  Weidman presiding over the ribbon cutting ceremony:

Here are some more photos from the day:

Rocks painted by children at the park's community build of playground equipment last fall and American flags were part of the decorations at the ribbon cutting ceremony.

For anyone that didn’t go to this event Saturday they missed a good time. The Elected officials that put this together did a great job! Anyone that has not been to the park need to visit and see the great job that has been done.
