The Paris School Board made the hiring of a second kindergarten teacher official Monday and the individual hired is no stranger to the school.
The board hired Megan Elfering, a graduate of the school who currently is student teaching in the first grade classroom at Paris. Elfering will be graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in May with a degree in early childhood education with human development and psychology minors, said Roger Gahart, district administrator.
“Our entire staff is extremely excited to welcome this talented teacher and highly respected young community member to our team,” Gahart said.
All grade levels at the school currently only have one classroom, but a concerted effort to drive open enrollment of students from other districts this year resulted in enough anticipated kindergarten students to create another class. Earlier this month, Gahart said he anticipated at least 26 kindergarten pupils this fall, with more being likely.
