Summer school classes will begin June 15 and continue through July 26 at Wilmot High School. While a number of courses are designed to boost failing grades, others will address weaknesses before incoming freshman start the school year, and some classes will give students a head start on fulfilling graduation requirements.
Some of the summer classes will include Art 1 & 2, Drivers Education, Financial Literature, Health, Reading, English, Music, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Physical Education, Physical Science, Biology, Special Education, and Social Science courses.
Assistant Principal Jim Padlock stated that incoming freshman students who take advantage of summer school programs historically do better in all areas of their education.
“We are confident about our program,†he said. “We want to intervene prior to the freshman year with students who might be having trouble with certain classes in eighth grade and help them to get their skills up. We want to take a proactive approach to their education.â€
