Morning Lakeland baseball games cancelled

Rain never stopped long enough Saturday morning to let the fields at Brightondale Park dry out.

Maybe there wasn't a game out on the diamonds, but that didn't stop these members of the Padres from playing a game of their own.

The fields were groomed, striped and ready. The players were assembled.

But the weather wouldn’t cooperate and the morning games for what was to be Lakeland Little League’s opening day of baseball Saturday were cancelled.

Managers should have details on make-ups.

The Cardinals watch the rain from their dugout.

Many spectators waited out the rain in their vehicles, while others chatted under umbrellas.
